On September 12, leading TV brands such as Changhong, Konka, Skyworth, LG Electronics, Philips, and Sony joined forces with LG Display to host the “Future TV Has Come – OLED Summit.†The event showcased a range of groundbreaking OLED innovations, marking the beginning of a new era in television technology.
In recent years, LG Display has made significant advancements in OLED technology, driving its rapid growth. The summit not only highlighted the advantages and future direction of OLED technology but also featured innovative products like self-sound OLED TVs and OLED wallpaper TVs. These cutting-edge solutions are set to become the true leaders of the future TV market.
Compared to traditional LCD screens, OLEDs offer more vibrant colors, perfect black levels, and infinite contrast. They provide an immersive viewing experience from any angle. Additionally, OLED displays have moderate brightness and emit less blue light, making them a more comfortable choice for long-term use.
The OLED wallpaper TV, designed to be mounted on walls, can still display images in standby mode, effectively doubling as home decor. Meanwhile, the self-sound OLED technology uses vibrations from the panel's back to produce sound, offering a stereo effect and opening up new possibilities for TV design and functionality.
In terms of production, OLED output is steadily increasing. Currently, LG Display can manufacture over 100,000 OLED panels per month. By 2017, the company plans to expand its capacity to around 1.8 million units. Looking ahead, it aims to reach a production capacity of 6 million units by 2020, ensuring a solid foundation for mass production of OLED products.
