Accessible AI technology will become a beneficiary

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence across various application domains, people with disabilities are increasingly becoming beneficiaries of technological progress. Recently, the first Science and Technology Accessibility Development Conference took place, showcasing a range of AI-driven solutions designed to enhance accessibility. Through the "Accessibility AI" portal on the "Multimedia AI Platform" mini-program, users can now access several AI tools tailored for barrier-free use. These innovations not only promote inclusivity but also support broader advancements in internet-related industries. The project has currently launched three key AI technologies aimed at improving accessibility: First, **Image-to-Speech** technology uses a multi-layer deep neural network to analyze visual content and convert it into a logical, spoken description. This helps visually impaired users understand images and visual information more effectively. Second, **Speech Synthesis** leverages machine learning to generate personalized voice outputs from text. It allows for emotional modulation, making the speech more natural and easier to comprehend, especially in scenarios like reading out news or documents. Third, **OCR Recognition** employs AI to detect and interpret text within images. This is particularly useful for reading signs, manuals, and other real-world texts, and it even supports searching through large volumes of image-based data. ![Accessible AI technology is open to the public, people with disabilities will be the beneficiaries](http://i.bosscdn.com/blog/lazy.gif) Li Zhijun, vice chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation and honorary chairman of the China Association of the Blind, emphasized that technological development is accelerating, and the demand for accessible internet services among disabled communities is growing rapidly. He urged companies to focus on building more inclusive digital environments and to use technology to reduce the challenges faced by people with disabilities. He also encouraged the conference to act as a bridge between enterprise needs and user requirements, fostering a collaborative platform for mutual growth and innovation. In addition, the conference officially released China's first professional book on information accessibility: *“Information Accessibility: Another Perspective to Enhance User Experience.”* This publication fills a critical gap in the field and promotes the idea that everyone should have equal access to information through the internet. Li Qingzhong, executive vice chairman of the China Association of the Blind, highlighted the importance of this initiative. With over 17 million visually impaired individuals and more than 200 million elderly people in China, modern information technology is reshaping daily life. However, it also presents both challenges and opportunities for vulnerable groups. Improving information accessibility is essential to prevent exclusion and enhance social participation and quality of life. This book aims to raise awareness about accessibility, educate the public, and ultimately elevate the standard of accessible services across society.
