I. Introduction
Street lamps are an important part of urban lighting. At present, high-pressure sodium lamps are widely used in urban street lighting. With the urban lighting and landscaping boom in China, the improvement of road conditions and the increase in the mileage of domestic urban high-grade highways, the amount of outdoor road lighting engineering has increased significantly. According to statistics, urban outdoor lighting accounts for 30% of lighting power consumption. However, in the situation of energy shortage, environmental protection and energy conservation has become a consensus. The country has invested unprecedented amounts of money in the study of “how to improve energy efficiency†by municipalities, which means that public sector infrastructure can achieve high and long-lasting energy savings with such investments. One of the energy-saving measures is to transform the road application systems of local governments, especially the most popular street lamps. In order to achieve energy-saving purposes, finding a more efficient illumination source is the development direction of urban street lighting. LED light source enters people's field of vision as a new type of illumination source. More specifically, this retrofit can replace the traditional Cobra head high pressure sodium lamp with an LED device.
Second, the advantages of LED light source as street lighting
Unlike high-pressure sodium lamp street lamps, high-power LED street lamps use low-voltage DC power supply and high-efficiency white light diodes synthesized from GaN blue LEDs and yellow phosphors. Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a high-efficiency solid-state light source based on a semiconductor PN junction that emits light with weak electrical energy. It injects holes into the P region under a certain forward bias voltage and injection current. The electrons injected into the N region are radiated to the active region to emit photons, which convert the electrical energy directly into light energy. Compared with traditional street lighting, LED street lights have the following advantages:
1. Long life of high-power LED street lamps
LED is a kind of semiconductor diode with no obvious failure mechanism. Its life is very long and its theoretical life can reach 100,000 hours. In fact, the life of high-power LED street lamps depends not only on the quality of the LED chips themselves, but also on the package quality of the LED light sources, the heat dissipation design of the LED lamps, and the quality assurance of the power supply and constant current drive. The focus of this issue is very much the same as the 500-100,000 hours described by many domestic and foreign experts and company product brochures. With the improvement of the LED industry chain, LED street lights can be close to the theoretical service life. In floodlighting applications, it is usually agreed that the LED output light flux is attenuated to 70% of the initial value, which is the end of life. The light decay of the LED street light is small, the light decay of less than 3% in one year, and the road illumination is still used after 10 years. According to the requirements, the existing LED has a life of 50,000 hours, which can greatly reduce the maintenance work and save operating costs. The high-pressure sodium light has a large decline, which has dropped by more than 30% in a year or so, and the life expectancy is about 12,000 hours.
2, high energy efficiency
The characteristics of the LED street lamp itself - the unidirectional nature of light, without the diffusion of light, guarantees the illumination efficiency. Moreover, the LED street lamp has a unique secondary optical design, and the light of the LED street lamp is irradiated to the area of ​​the required illumination, thereby further improving the illumination efficiency to achieve the purpose of energy saving. A 150W LED street light is equivalent to the light effect of a 300W high-pressure sodium lamp, and the energy saving effect is remarkable.
