Above the tunnel, the 3,000-square-meter solar panel is spectacular. This is a solar photovoltaic power station specially built for the tunnel. It uses energy-saving and environmentally-friendly solar energy to power the tunnel lighting.
According to reports, this power station is the largest single-generation photovoltaic power plant in our province. It is also the first application in tunnel lighting in China. The system uses solar modules to directly convert solar energy into electrical energy, and delivers energy to the grid through the grid connection. Low-voltage power grids achieve the goal of using renewable energy. The total capacity of the whole power station is 100 kilowatts, and the annual power generation is 13.8 kWh. In the tunnel, the nationally promoted lighting products T5 fluorescent lamps are adopted. The adoption of two energy-saving measures can save more than 120 tons of standard coal per year. The tunnel has thus become the first tunnel in China to use solar lighting.
The tunnel will be completed at the end of this month. By then, it will become the third major artery of Yantai City's north-south traffic.
