"Jade survival" heavy burst support map customization

Recently, foreign media Kotaku had an exclusive interview with Brendan Greene, the creative director of Jedi Survival, where they discussed the game's plans for 2018. The conversation provided a glimpse into the future of the game and the challenges the team is currently facing.

In the interview, Greene emphasized that the 1.0 version of the game is just the beginning. While it has already attracted a lot of attention, there are still issues like server instability and performance problems. He described the process as more like a marathon than a sprint, noting that while these issues may seem straightforward, solving them requires deep technical effort and time. "What seems simple on the surface can be very complex under the hood," he added.

Besides improving stability, the Jedi Survival team is also working on introducing a ranking system in the next year. This will allow players to track their progress, understand their skill level, and be matched with others of similar ability, enhancing the competitive experience.

The game will also introduce more cosmetic items, but Greene expressed concerns about the potential for gambling-like behavior, similar to what has been seen in games like CS:GO. "We can't fully control the grey areas of the market," he said. "No matter what we do, some issues might still arise. However, we're committed to making the trading of in-game items fair and ensuring it operates within the Steam marketplace."

On the topic of game balance, Greene stated that Jedi Survival is already highly competitive, but the team will continue to monitor player feedback and data to make further refinements. "Our focus is on ensuring the game remains balanced and enjoyable for all players," he explained.

Looking ahead, Greene mentioned that the team is planning to bring more variety to the gameplay experience. This could include new maps, which would offer different environments and strategies. "The desert map, for example, provides a completely different experience compared to the older ones," he noted. The goal is to keep the game fresh and engaging by continuously expanding the map pool.

Additionally, Greene hopes to encourage player creativity by potentially adding support for custom maps and user-made content. "Players won't need to deal with core code—our platform will allow them to create their own game modes and bring their unique ideas to life," he said. However, he stressed that the immediate priority is to ensure the game is stable, competitive, and free from crashes.
