My friend just started using the DJI Mavic 4 Pro+ drone today. We were both newbies who had never touched a drone before. I wanted to find a drone to help me learn, but everyone was too busy, so I had to figure it out on my own...
The official DJI Taobao store is very efficient. It was ordered on the afternoon of November 13th and arrived at 9:00 AM on November 15th in Nanjing. Two large boxes—each containing a battery and the drone itself. The high version of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro+ costs 13,997 RMB, but during Double 11, there was a discount of 500 RMB, bringing the final price down to 13,497 RMB.
Unboxing the box, there was a thick gray foam box, which felt more substantial than average. To open it, I had to unlock the handle, rotate it 90 degrees, and lift it up. It took me about five minutes to figure out how to open it.
Inside, there were two sets of propellers (8 blades total). The instructions said to install them according to the fuselage markings. The gray blades go on the gray blade seats, and the black ones on the black ones. I held the motor with one hand and placed the blade in the center with the other, then pressed and rotated left and right. The black and gray blades spin in opposite directions.
After installing the blades, I turned on the remote control. I pressed and released the button once, then pressed and held for two seconds to power it on. Once the remote was on, the system prompted me to register. I filled in the country, language, phone number, and email. After registration, the system updated automatically.
I used the USB Cable from the box to connect the remote to the drone. The system warned that I needed enough power to complete the update, so I quickly plugged in the charger. But something went wrong—the remote control started making a whistling sound, and the charger became hot! I immediately contacted DJI customer service, but they were overwhelmed with calls. I shut everything down and tried again later.
Once the remote and the drone were charged and upgraded, the system showed 796 MB of files ready to be installed in ten minutes. Then I followed the prompts to upgrade using a random USB. After the update, I opened the WeChat app that came with the remote. However, I couldn't find an exit button. After some trial and error, I found that by going into settings and scrolling down, I could finally exit the app.
The Mavic 4 Pro+ with a monitor costs 2,000 RMB more than the standard model without a display. A 5.5-inch display adds 2,000 RMB, which feels expensive. For cost-effectiveness, it's better to buy a Huawei Mate8 instead. I recommend that enthusiasts with some technical skills or those who want a more affordable option go for the 10,998 RMB dual-electric package. After all, money doesn’t grow on trees.
It’s best for beginners to purchase the DJI Care renewal plan. Otherwise, a drone worth over 10,000 RMB could crash and become useless, with no resale value.
