Philips Lumileds Breaks Through Light Output and Temperature Stability

On July 6th, Philips Lumileds announced a major breakthrough in LUXEON Rebel phosphor conversion LEDs. Users can see that the light output is increased by 2-5 times, which greatly reduces the color conversion of light compared to conventional amber LEDs. New capabilities enable solution and application providers to reduce the number of LEDs used, the cost per lumen, the cost of the entire system, and simplify the process.

Color conversion

Conventional fluorescent lamps are still used in many occasions, mainly because the current LED brightness is not enough to operate efficiently at high temperatures. With the new LUXEON Rebel phosphor conversion amber LED, the yellow traffic light will be replaced, and the beacon or warning light for the car and barrier will be replaced by the LED, which will also be used in entertainment applications.

In automotive applications, a large number of LED Lights are used for brake lights and signal lights. If LUXEON Rebel PC amber is used, manufacturers can use fewer LEDs and related components. More importantly, the light output has increased dramatically. In the face of temperature changes, the color is more stable, solving the problems that have been faced before. Philips Lumileds expects the product to be quickly accepted by the automotive market.
