Photographer Wang Zhiwei: Four experiences of landscape photography aerial photography

Wang Zhiwei, a post-90s professional landscape photographer and freelance writer, has made a name for himself in the photography world. As a Kase filter cooperative photographer and a signed influencer on Weibo, he's also a renowned photography blogger and contributor to publications like National Geographic and Time Train. He's the author of a popular photography course on POCO, and his work has taken him across more than half of China. "I'm a young man who takes photography seriously," he says. "Through my images, I aim to observe the world with depth and sincerity." Wang's journey into photography began during his junior high school years, where he developed a passion that eventually led him to study digital media art. His first encounter with drones came during his freshman year, and it sparked a new creative direction. "Drones offer an extraordinary perspective, and they allow me to explore new creative possibilities through aerial views," he explains. Initially, he purchased the DJI Mavic 3A, but as his creative demands grew, he found it lacking in image quality. He upgraded to the Mavic 2, which he used for nearly a year. However, due to its weight and short battery life, he often felt burdened when traveling extensively. That's why he switched to the Mavic 4 Pro, which has become his go-to drone today. The Mavic 4 Pro offers several key advantages. First, its 1-inch CMOS sensor provides excellent dynamic range, significantly improving the quality of his work. Second, the obstacle avoidance system gives him greater confidence while flying in complex environments. Third, the intelligent shooting modes make it easier for him to capture stunning shots without complicated settings. Most importantly, the 27-minute flight time allows him to shoot during the golden hour—those critical 15 minutes before sunrise and after sunset. In addition to the Mavic 4 Pro, Wang also recommends the DJI Mini 3. "It's compact and easy to carry, making it ideal for quick outdoor shoots or creating small, creative moments with lower resolution requirements," he says. From the Everest Base Camp to high-altitude locations, Wang continues to push the boundaries of his craft, capturing breathtaking landscapes that tell stories from above. His dedication to photography, paired with the right tools, has helped him carve out a unique space in the world of aerial and landscape photography.
