AS3435

AS3435 is mainly used for feedback systems, while AS3415 is mainly used for feedforward systems. They are the latest products in the analog active noise reduction IC series from Austrian Microelectronics. These two chips are the first high-frequency noise-cancelling speaker drivers and contain the latest ultra-low noise amplifier with a noise floor of 900nV. When used with low-noise microphones, they can cancel high-frequency noise.

These two chips have 35mW of stereo output power, 0.1% total harmonic distortion plus noise under a 32Ω load and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 110dB. These two excellent audio characteristics. This means that manufacturers of high-fidelity audio equipment can use AS3435 and AS3415 to replace existing active noise reduction solutions, so that users can get a better listening experience.

Austrian Microelectronics' new active noise reduction IC also improves the structural design of the headphone housing. Traditional active noise canceling headphones use a mechanical switch to activate the bypass mode. When the battery of the headset is completely exhausted, if the user wants to continue to listen to music through audio input, he must abandon the active noise reduction function. Both the earphone cover and the circuit board design must consider the need to accommodate the mechanical switch.

AS3435 and AS3415 use integrated bypass switches, and the music signal output from the 3.5 mm audio jack can pass the active noise reduction chipset without any power connection. Because there is no external switch, this function can effectively reduce the cost of materials and reduce the size of the circuit board, and designers no longer need to consider the needs of mechanical switches when designing the earphone cover.

At the same time, the noise reduction chips of these two analog solutions usually consume two to three times less power than the equivalent digital solutions. In noise reduction mode, the typical power consumption when operating at 1.5V is only 10mW. A AAA battery can support the device to run for more than 100 hours.

At the same time as the introduction of AS3435 and AS3415 active noise reduction ICs, Austrian Microelectronics also released improved design tools to make filter network development faster and simpler to meet the noise reduction requirements of sound wave characteristics in the design of headphones.

The design tool of Austrian Microelectronics is based on the Windows system. The graphical interface is simple and easy to understand. It can display the entire signal chain on the user's screen and provide a SPICE module to simulate the operation of the filter architecture.

In addition, the AS3435 and AS3415 have added bass boost equalization capabilities, and can achieve sound equalization without the need for discrete signal processing ICs.
