At the recent second Dajiang AirWorks conference, the Chinese drone giant unveiled its first web-based application, FlightHub. This innovative platform enables operators to manage multiple drone formations simultaneously—up to 10 at once. The release marks a significant step forward in drone management for commercial and emergency operations.
Alongside FlightHub, DJI introduced two new custom-built drones called Wind, designed to withstand harsh weather conditions like strong winds and rain. Each can carry a payload of nearly 30 pounds (about 13.6 kilograms). However, these models are exclusive to specific clients and won’t be available for purchase on DJI’s official website, emphasizing their tailored nature.
DJI also announced a partnership with the Menlo Park Fire Department in California. During last month's wildfires, the department deployed over 120 flights from DJI drones, using them for situational awareness, search and rescue, and assessing burned areas. This collaboration highlights the critical role of drones in emergency response.
Menlo Park was the first to test FlightHub. The software provides real-time data on each drone’s speed, position, and orientation, while displaying up to four live video streams. It also includes essential features like cloud-based media management, user authorization, and tracking for different employees—making it ideal for large-scale operations.
Beyond firefighting, FlightHub is being tested in other sectors. For example, BNSF Railway, one of North America’s largest freight rail operators, is using the platform to streamline its operations, bringing modern technology into an industry that has long relied on traditional methods.
FlightHub supports several DJI drone models, including the Jingwei M200 series, the "Wuhan" Inspire 2, the Elf 4 series, and the "Royal" Mavic Pro. This compatibility ensures that users can integrate the software with their existing equipment.
The software is offered through three subscription tiers. The basic plan allows management of up to 5 drones for $99/month or $999/year. The advanced plan supports up to 10 drones at $299/month or $2999/year. The corporate tier offers more than 10 drones and includes private cloud functions, with pricing available upon inquiry.
FlightHub will open for a one-month public beta test starting November 14, giving users a chance to experience its capabilities firsthand. This release underscores DJI’s continued innovation in drone technology and its growing influence across various industries.
