At the second Dajiang AirWorks conference, which recently took place, the Chinese drone giant unveiled its first web-based application, FlightHub. This innovative platform enables operators to manage multiple drone formations simultaneously—up to 10 at once. The release marks a significant step forward in drone management and coordination.
Alongside the software launch, DJI introduced two new custom drones under the Wind series, designed to withstand strong winds and rain. These models can carry nearly 30 pounds (about 13.6 kilograms), making them ideal for challenging environments. However, it's worth noting that these are not standard consumer products; they are tailored for specific applications and will not be available on DJI’s official website.
In addition to hardware updates, DJI announced a collaboration with the Menlo Park Fire Department in California. During the recent wildfires, the department used over 120 flights from DJI drones to support operations. The drones provided critical situational awareness, aided in search and rescue missions, and helped assess the burned areas. As the first user of FlightHub, the fire department benefits from real-time data on each drone’s speed, position, and orientation, along with four live video feeds.
FlightHub also includes essential features like cloud-based media management, user authorization, and tracking capabilities. These tools help administrators monitor and control drone usage across teams efficiently.
Beyond emergency services, FlightHub is being tested in other industries. For instance, BNSF Railway, one of North America’s largest freight rail operators, is using the platform to streamline its operations, bringing modern technology into an age-old industry.
The FlightHub platform supports several DJI drone models, including the Jingwei M200 series, Inspire 2, Elf 4 series, and Mavic Pro. It offers three subscription tiers: a basic plan for up to 5 drones at $99/month or $999/year, an advanced plan for 10 drones at $299/month or $2999/year, and a corporate plan that manages more than 10 drones with private cloud options, available upon request.
FlightHub will open a public beta test on November 14, giving users a chance to experience its capabilities firsthand. With its growing list of features and expanding use cases, FlightHub is set to become a key tool for professional drone operators across various sectors.
