Taiwan's 700,000 盏 traffic lights 2011 will be replaced by LED lights

A total of 700,000 baht traffic lights will be completed in 2011. The LED lights will be fully replaced in 2011, which will reduce the power consumption by 232 million kWh and achieve energy efficiency of 90%.

Taiwan began to change from incandescent to LED lights in 2003. From 2009 onwards, it plans to invest nearly NT$1.2 billion in three years. It is necessary to replace the whole country with the LED traffic signal light. The project is expected to be completed in 2011.

The Taiwan Energy Bureau estimates that after replacing traditional incandescent lamps with LED lights, the power saving efficiency can reach 90%. With 700,000 traffic lights in the whole station, it can save nearly 232 million kWh of electricity per year and reduce CO2 generation. The emissions reached 162,000 tons.
