DOE Releases Round 11 Test Results of CALiPER Project

The eleventh round of testing of China Semiconductor Lighting Network CALiPER project is from March 2010 to September 2010. A total of 30 products were tested in this round, representing a range of unused types of products and technologies, and products were tested using spectroradiometry and goniophotometry. All solid-state lighting (SSL) products are tested against the IESNA LM-79-08 measurement method; benchmark products are also tested with absolute photometry, allowing direct comparison of results between solid-state lighting products and benchmark products.

The 11th round of testing mainly includes five main focus areas:

1. Road lighting fixtures and arm-mount luminaires

2. Road lighting and post-top luminaires

3, linear replacement lamps

4, high compartment lighting fixtures

5, small replacement lamp (MR16 lamp, PAR lamp, A lamp and candlestick lamp)

As a benchmark, traditional lighting products using incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, high pressure sodium (HPS), pulse-activated metal halide (PSMH), or ceramic metal halide (CMH) light sources have also been tested (anonymously) Samples were tested using absolute photometry, and test results were also included in the report. This report outlines the basic photometric performance results for each product, and discusses the results of tests using traditional light sources for similar products, the results of the previous rounds of CALiPER projects, and the results of similar product manufacturer ratings.
